pattern power! at dunkers 29.5 - 26.9 2010

ten swedish designers at dunkers!

PATTERN POWER! is an exhibition about the ten pioneering textile designers who joined forces as Ten Swedish Desginers and the 700+ patterns that they have created in the space of 40 years. But that is not all! For the exhibition is as much a tribute to the vitality of the printed textile pattern in general. It raises the question of what patterns can mean both to those who design them as well as to the people who experience them.

PATTERN POWER! also focuses on creative enthusiasm that can move montains; and the force of communal effort and a sense of community. How an operation that is dismissed as having no future can prove to be far more long lasting than most ventures. In brief: this is a celebration of the potency of the creative mind and of the innate power of the pattern.

10 Swedish designers marks its 40the anniversary with pattern power! at dunkers kulturhus

This summer, 10-gruppen has been invited by Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg to present PATTERN POWER!, a major exhibition focusing on the creative process and the inherent potency of patterns. The exhibition features a wild array of sketches, textile patterns and

10-gruppen products from its colourful 40 years of production, without any chronological order. A central feature is the large work space where visitors can design their own patterns and sketches with expert help.

The exhibition is produced by Dunkers Kulturhus. The producer is Charlotta Jönsson. The exhibition is designed principally by

Tom Hedqvist. A richly illustrated catalogue with indepth essays, edited by Annica Kvint, will be published in conjunction with the exhibition, which opens on 28 May and ends on 26 September, 2010.
